Film Screening and Artist Talk: “Wortown Rising,” with Kaz Supernova

Join us at the Worcester Art Museum for a screening of Rising (2023), a documentary by independent filmmaker, musician, and producer Kaz Supernova. The film chronicles the first Hip-Hop movement in Worcester, which began around 1979, flourished in the ’80s, and eventually became known as “Wortown.” Since its debut, Wortown Rising has evolved into a major cultural preservation project. After the film, Kaz will discuss and share works from the collection he has put together of restored photographs, flyers, and rare archival materials.

Obscure Prophet proudly announces the official premiere of “WORTOWN RISING"- The Untold Story of the First Hip-Hop Music Scene in Worcester, MA”

Saturday, July 29th at the JMAC, 121 Franklin Street, Worcester MA, from 5 pm-1 am.

Festivities will include:

An exhibit of photos, vintage fliers, and artifacts collected while creating the film.

An introduction to the film with guest speakers.

The premiere of WORTOWN RISING.

An after-party featuring a cast of legendary Wortown DJs.

NOTE: Tickets will be made available to the public on May 5th

Admission is FREE to the public by reservation.

Cast and VIPs will receive a direct invite.
